Orca Conservancy supports stronger fisheries management and to withdraw the bad NS1 rule

Orca Conservancy, along with 43 other organizations, are telling President Obama and NOAA Fisheries that we need stronger fisheries management and to withdraw the bad NS1 rule. This effort is, in part, due to our continued support of the re-authorization of the Magnuson-Stevens Fisheries Conservation and Management Act (MSA). The proper re-authorization would modernizes the MSA as well as maintain its scientific integrity. Whereas, this is another link between salmon recovery, forage fish abundance, ecosystem planning and, ultimately,  Southern Resident orca population vitality. Orca Conservancy continues to put emphasis on how central the MSA is, and we aim to accomplishing that end.NOTE: The MSA, is the primary law governing marine fisheries management in U.S. federal waters. First passed in 1976, the MSA fosters long-term biological and economic sustainability of our nation's marine fisheries out to 200 nautical miles from shore.thumbnail of Page 1thumbnail of Page 2thumbnail of Page 3thumbnail of Page 4
