Introducing Vanessa Lennon, our volunteer coordinator

Orca Conservancy isproud to announce that our board member, Vanessa Lennon is our brand newvolunteer coordinator, and we are thrilled that Ness has taken on thisroll!  Get to know her and the activitieswe are about to embark upon in 2019!

Hi! My name is Vanessa (you can call me Ness), and I havebeen with Orca Conservancy for about eighteen months. While I already serve onthe Board of Directors as Treasurer, I am super excited to expand myinvolvement to include Volunteer Coordinator! Volunteering has long been apassion of mine; I love getting stuck in and getting my hands dirty. It was throughvolunteer work that I was first introduced to Orca Conservancy and I can’t waitto share my passion with others seeking ways to get involved.

Presently, I am working through the list of existingvolunteers, however we have plenty of opportunities coming up in 2019. Iencourage anyone who is interested, regardless of skill set or time availability,to get in touch if you are passionate about our Southern Residents. Wecurrently have an urgent need for people who are willing and able to get intouch with legislators over the approaching session. Volunteers from all aroundthe state will be needed to talk to their representatives, as many as possible! If legal proceedings are where your interests lie, we have a wide variety ofprojects for all kinds of abilities. Occasions for public speaking as well aslive community events and engagement will happen throughout the year. Ourupcoming OrcaStars program will have need for a diverse group of volunteers. And if you’re much more partial to a good old-fashioned beach cleanup or treeplanting, there will be a number of restoration projects coming up with a rangeof local organizations and partners.

With so much on the calendar, 2019 is set to be a busy andexciting year for Orca Conservancy. I am eager to meet new volunteers, connectwith existing ones, and really get involved with the people who support ourmission.

For any questions and for those looking to get involved, please don’t hesitate to contact me at volunteer4oc@gmail.com.I look forward to hearing from you!
