Well, HELLO K-Pod!

K-Pod is the smallest of the three pods in the Endangered Southern Resident killer whale community with only 17 members.

On June 29, 2020: Members of the K12 and K13 matrilines from K-Pod of the critically endangered Southern Resident killer whale (SRKW) population were seen near Blackney Pass in British Columbia. What a wonderful surprise!

Then, in an unprecedented amount of time, they appeared off the westside of San Juan Island on July 1st! Ca-RAZY!

Many of us were overcome with excitement as this is the first time any K's have been seen in inland waters in 2020. Such a beautiful sight for sore eyes.
