OC signed onto the Our Sound Our Salmon Coalition letter to Premier John Horgan requesting he deny the renewal of 20 Atlantic salmon fish farms in the Broughton Archipelago by June 20, 2018.

The future of the endangered Southern Resident killer whale (SRKW) population depends on our taking a more comprehensive approach in restoring the ecosystem health of our oceans. As you know, the remaining 75 SRKWs, a distinct population segment, rely on healthy, wild salmon stocks for their survival. Change is desperately needed.Orca Conservancy, as an active member of the Our Sound, Our Salmon Coalition,  joined the show of support with 77 businesses and organizations signing on from WA, AK, OR, and CA. We stand in solidarity with our neighbors in B.C. as they continue their own work to rid the Salish Sea of Atlantic salmon farms. The following letter was delivered to Premier John Horgan on Friday June 15th.  Our Sound, Our Salmon also sent out a press release to both B.C. and U.S. media.
