Hello J-Pod!!! Wait, what?!

J-Pod makes up one of the three familia pods of the now critically endangered Southern Resident killer whale population. The other two pods are K-Pod and L-Pod.

As of July 13th there are only 72 remaining Southern Resident killer whales (SRKWs) -- a distinct population segment (DPS) -- left in our oceans.

J-Pod makes up 22 members of the Southern Resident killer whale population. Unlike other killer whales around the world, the Southern Resident killer whale population is facing diminishing food sources, pollution, noise pollution, and the potential risk of an oil spill.

Southern Resident killer whales rely on healthy, wild Chinook salmon for their survival. Many of the Chinook salmon runs they rely on are also endangered and continue to decline.
