Scientists Alert Policymakers in Letter That Urgent Action Needed to Cool River Waters to Prevent Salmon Extinction

On October 22, 2019 -- 55 scientists, including Orca Conservancy's chief scientist, Dr. David Bain, PhD, sent a letter to the three Governors and twenty-three U.S. Senators and Members of Congress in Idaho, Washington and Oregon to highlight how the federal dams on the lower Snake River are combining with a changing climate to elevate water temperatures each year in the summer months (July, August, Sept) to levels that are harming and killing endangered salmon and steelhead populations.
